Four of us are coming to GC in two weeks. Two are divers. Was there much hurricane damage to the island and what can we expect diving wise. Will the water be as clear as normal, etc? This is our first trip to GC and we are very excited.

I went last year right after a huge storm and everything was fine. They are really good at cleaning up afterwards, since they make their money from the visitors. Got to keep up the appearances! That island is so low they don't have runoff or anything to keep the water murky after a storm. I dove a few days after a MAJOR hurricane, the visibility was over 100 feet! Check out that new shore dive at the Cracked Conch, no doubt the best shore dive on the island.

Welcome to the forum, zeppy Smile ,

Not to minimize what they went through, I think that the island really suffered no appreciable damage from Gustav. You'll have a wonderful vacation, and the diving will be terrific!

I agree with JKman.......be sure to go up to the Turtle Reef at the Cracked Conch and do the shore dive there. There are coupons in the Activity Guide that will give you either 10% off of the shore dive, or a Dive, Dine and Drink coupon for $19 CI. Or....you can go twice, and use them both!

No worries, Mon....
