My husband and I were in Cayman for the first time over Easter Week. We noticed a plant growing all over the place that we would love to plant in Houston but we don't know what it is. I'm wondering if anyone out there could tell us the name of this plant. It grows quite tall, in many cases over six feet but I have seen it trimmed and cut shorter. It has long green leaves that look rather spiky but are soft and it has flowers all over it. Most of the ones I saw were dark pink but there were some that were lighter. It's not a bougainvillea nor a hibiscus. I saw it used a lot as a hedge. It was often planted against a fence and grew above the fence. Anyone out there have any idea of what this plant could be?
