My fiance and I are planning our honeymoon for very early May. We are considering a blend of two of the vacation types discussed above.

We are thinking of arriving on a Friday and staying on GC (Shangri La B&B) for the weekend. We can eat, drink, have beach fun, and some alone time during that stretch.

Then, we are hoping to move to Little Cayman for the remainder of the trip (4 more nights there) at the Southern Cross Dive Resort.

Does anyone have any thoughts on that plan and whether it's feasible. Also, is there an alternative to flying over to Little Cayman?

Thanks for the information already presented as well as any comments on this post.

Hi Wald0 -

And congratulations!

With that combination, you are about to have one of the best vacations you've ever had in your life!

Check out our Dive forum to pick an affordable personalized outfit like Neptune?s or Off the Wall. They will take you to the very best sites on Grand Cayman. Two of the best restaurants on the entire island are within a few miles of Shangri-La: Fisherman's Reef and Pappagallo. You will also be near the best shore dive on Grand Cayman, Turtle Reef at the Cracked Conch with the closest access to the Northwest Point area, which was just ranked the number one dive site in the WORLD by Scuba Diver magazine.

The only carrier to Little Cayman is Cayman Air. You can check their schedules online and book whatever flight best accommodates your itinerary, being sure to allow 24 hours after diving before each flight.

Southern Cross is our recommended Little Cayman resort so you are assured of the very best dives, accommodations and meals at very affordable rates with your Activity Guide discount.

Be sure to request your Activity Guide perks and discounts for Shangri-La and Southern Cross. You will find a coupon in our magazine for the shore dive at the Cracked Conch. Just mention that you are an Activity Guide member to Neptune?s or Off the Wall and tell them you will be writing a trip report when you return; they might just treat you a little extra special. Wink

Read as many of our topics as you can about Grand Cayman activities and restaurants because there is so much to do; and prepare yourself for the best vacation you?ve ever had!

Hi Waldo,

Congratulations and welcome to the forum!

You have a great honeymoon in the works. Mrs DS and I honeymooned on the North Side in 19--, um, well, er, a few years back anyway BouncingLaugh This was in our pre-diver days so we didn't get around to diving until a return trip several years later.

I know you'll be hooked on the Cayman Islands like we are. We like going to new islands, but we usually end up making at least every other dive trip to one of the Cayman Islands. For beutifil scenery, beautiful friendly people, great diving, great dining and overall safety, the Cayman Islands can't be beat.

Enjoy your trip and don't forget to write a trip report when you get back.

DS
