We are new to this site and are travelling for the first time to Grand Cayman at the end of December. We were wondering if staying at a place that offers a dive package is the way to go. We would welcome any thoughts or recommendations. Thanks

1412andrea, This is going to truly be based on how much diving you plan on doing. Most dive ops will offer a discounted price if you book ahead of time and the more days you book the cheaper it is. If you want to do shore diving all over the island most of the dive ops like Don Fosters offers free tank fills for shore diving as long as you book atleast a 3 day package. This is what we always do. However there is a down side to doing this, you are cutting yourself off from some spectacular diving on the East End. We do atleast one dive at the turtle farm, tanks are rented there at $10.00/per person with as many tanks as you want to dive. This is a shore dive that is great and not to be missed.

If all you wanted to do is shore diving then the cost is simply is cut drastically because all your doing is paying for the tank fills.

Eden Rock is the same way, but not sure about the cost.

Hope this helps somewhat.
