Joe,

While we were at the Hyatt last week, several of the staff who dive also were recommending Danny.... at that point I was unaware of him/OTW and had already booked with Casey at Neptune's who, as I've already posted, was great.... and I have no regrets whatsoever.... but that's good to know... should either one be booked or otherwise unavailable.... Thanks again. Smile

I have been diving with Danny since 1999 and he is the best. I would highly recomend him to anyone. Novice or advanced. He makes the trips fun and asks what you want to see or if you know the island, where you want to go. I won't use anyone else on the island.

How long does it take to hear back from these guys? I emailed them several days ago and I haven't received a response.

Also, how far in advance should dive reservations be booked?

Thanks!

Hello, I am staying on the East ENd of the island and was wondering if Off the Wall Diving would pick us up from the Tortuga Club? I am looking for a dive shop that can also accomodate to snorkellers because I am a diver but my boyfriend is not certified. Are there shallower dives to go on so he could possible snorkel while I went diving?

zimzimmie1,

Heard nothing but great things about Danny at Off the Wall... but have not personally done any diving with him. However, since he is located on SMB (Seven Mile Beach) and you are staying on the East End, a pickup for a morning 2 tanker is unlikely given time and distance.

Paul's absolutely right on... no reason why you shouldn't fire off an email and ask... then let us know his response... he'll get back to you promptly!

Danny's a great guy and this is one of the best operations I've been diving with. They have a big boat, lots of room and take only 10 divers. Their prices are excellent and they hit the best spots every day.

Great pick Joe, as always.

Diving:
We dived 4 of the 7 days with Off the Wall. Danny and his crew are some of the nicest people we ever met. The weather was perfect almost the whole time, with only 1 or 2 very short rain showers. They were able to take us to the north wall 3 of the 4 days, for easily the best dives either of us have ever done. 1 day it was a little bit too windy up north and plus they wanted to give us some variety so they took us to the Big Tunnel and a shallower reef called the Bonnies Arch…both on the west side. The north wall was our favorite but it was also nice having the variety…never more than 4 other people on the boat and 1 day we went north with just TWO other people…it was like a private charter. They do not have any Activity Guide discounts, but we told them we were members and they offered us a discount if we did at least 3 of our 4 days with them…by the end of the first day we knew we would want to dive every day with them…everything was so fantastic we tipped them way more than the discount would have been anyway!

Danny and everyone at Off the Wall are absolutely wonderful! We only were able to dive with them once, because we made a mistake and stayed in the east end of the island (never again!). They took us to a wall dive on Orange Canyon, which was one of the best dives I ever did, and I've done hundreds of dives in the Caribbean. The prices are good, but no discount. We did call one of the operators that offers a discount but they were full the only day we could go.

A word to the wise... The east end of Grand Cayman is VERY ROUGH. The west side is just as good or better and now they have a shipwreck there, Kitti Wake.

Thanks to Danny and the crew for making our best diving day even better! rose
