There is 6' to 7' crocodile cruising 7 mile beach every morning at 6:00AM to 7:00AM.

We met up with a small group this morning that gathers for coffee and "croc watching".

The discoverer has named him "Paco". But he could be a croc named "George" who has visited GC on occasion. George is from Cuba or Jamaica. He was previously tagged and tracked, netted and returned to Cuba...but that dude gets around!

Don't know yet if this croc is George but it was cool to see him.

Yesterday when the group was watching him a swimmer unknowingly was on a head - on path to intercept the croc. The croc just went deep and the swimmer just kept on going!

I will try to get a decent photo to post.

On our morning walk the day before we left, we were walking the beach with our son Patrick. For the life of us we could not figure out what was swimming so fast in the water along side of us. It would head to shore and then head out deeper. We could never quite figure out what it was. We had all the usual guesses of ray, turtle, tarpon, even shark!

I would be real curious to find out if this is actually a crocodile!

No doubt about it. It's a crocodile we saw this morning. He was only 20 to 30' offshore moving fairly rapid with just his nose out of the water and an unmistakeable swish of his tail.

Believe it or not, I remember taking a picture that morning! This is it. He had just gone back under the water. It's the dark spot about a quarter of the way from the top of the picture.

So I take it that the croc that was seen on SMB has left the area since there hasn't been any posts about it lately. I will be arriving there in 8 DAYS Jump and really don't want to come face to face with this critter while snorkeling.

Last year I believe they said it was a sunfish.
