Hearing about the poor folks in Haiti and that the earthquake was felt in eastern Cuba. Could those of you on Grand Cayman feel any of the after shocks of the earthquake?

I didn't notice anything. What time did the quake occur?

The quake struck at 4:53 p.m., centered 10 miles (15 kilometers) west of Port-au-Prince at a depth of only 5 miles (8 kilometers), the U.S. Geological Survey said. USGS geophysicist Kristin Marano called it the strongest earthquake since 1770 in what is now Haiti.

I copied the above from a news website in the U.S. The earthquake was yesterday Joe. Horrible.

I didn't feel anything---but I hurried to check the local TV to make sure that the tsunami wasn't heading this way---and it wasn't.....it fact it didn't happen there either. Thank goodness for those poor people in Haiti

Thanks Sun Lover:

At 4:30pm Cayman time (same as EST), we were making pizza crusts and playing music band with our sound system blasting so we probably wouldn't have noticed anything stronger than a at least a 5-6 on the rector scale. Our sound system includes a fairly powerful subwoofer that tends to 'quake' our house a bit even at low volumes. Very Happy

Thank you for the report and I hope everyone in Haiti is okay.

My heart just goes out to the country and people of Haiti. This disaster is of unbelievably enormous proportions. I've been glued to CNN all day. I hope that relief can get in there as soon as possible.
