CayLight
Cayman's Superb Locally Produced Premium Light Beer
The Cayman Islands Brewery Ltd (CIB) today launched its new beer, CayLight, The Cayman Islands’ Premium Light Beer in bottles, after a year of careful preparation and taste trials across Grand Cayman. It is ‘Beach Tested’ and ‘Taste Approved’.
CayLight ® is a premium light beer and is proudly brewed to the highest international standards and environmental practices for which CIB is well known. CayLight has an alcohol content of 3.4% and only 95 calories. CayLight is available in returnable bottles and on draft.
James Mansfield, Commercial Manager of CIB said the company was thrilled to deliver a second product to its portfolio of 100% Cayman-made products. “ We are very proud of CayLight as we have used our environmentally intelligent brewery to produce an extremely light beer whilst maintaining a great taste. The whole team are proud to introduce CayLight and we encourage all local customers to support us in our mission to look after our country’s environment and support our country’s economy.”
CayLight is produced with the same environmental philosophies as its core as Caybrew. In producing CayLight, the brewery adopts internationally accepted environmental practices which contribute to the preservation and protect of the environment in the Cayman Islands.
Produced in the same returnable bottle as Caybrew, CayLight is passionate about the Cayman environment and encourages all consumers to return the bottle to [the Caybrew Brewery in Prospect]. A return fee of .8c a bottle or CI$2 will be paid to the returner of each bottle. [This return offer makes Caybrew the most highly affordable beer in the Cayman Islands by a margin of at least 30% including redemption. Considering the number of international awards and substantial immediate popularity, Caybrew is easily the most highly valued beer in the Cayman Islands]
Caybrew is Green!
Empty CayLight and Caybrew bottles will be picked up from bars and restaurants by the Brewery and the return fee will be credited.
The brewing team: Landell Brown, Kemar Golding and Andreas Moerl are rightly proud of CayLight, “ We are delighted to present CayLight in returnable bottles to the people of the Cayman Islands. “We have created a beer which is very low in calories – 95,carb count and for a light beer of 3.5%, that was a pleasing challenge,” said Moerl. “We are very pleased with the flavour and look forward to CayLight taking its place alongside the active lives in Cayman which we all lead. Cayman now has a light beer of which it can be proud and by drinking it, Caymanians are also supporting local business growth and protection of the local environment.”
The design of the CayLight packaging and labels was led by CIB’s Kate Cuming and the designer was Mr Simon Paradieu, a Caymanian graphic designer and owner of local company Eyewaves.
“ CayLight was designed to be part of the CIB family and to symbolize its Cayman roots. “We chose to incorporate a number of uniquely Caymanian icons into the design of CayLight, the same ones as Caybrew,” she said. “The design is based around the national plant, Silver Thatch, a symbol of Cayman’s heritage and it’s three stars represent the three Islands of Cayman. Stamping these pieces of Caymanian identity onto CayLight gives roots to the idea that CayLight is proudly made in Cayman, is passionate about the environment and all about supporting local business and industry. “
The bright blues of the Cayman sea, are a theme that run through from the bottle labels, to the 6 packs and the cartons. The green bottle continues to symbolize the tradition set by Caybrew of being truly recyclable and the returnable bottle of CayLight stands for the same principles as Caybrew.
CayLight sales representatives Peter Carlowe, Jarrett Nicholson and Matthew Leslie will be running promotions around the three Islands. If you would like to sample CayLight you may visit the brewery between 9am and 5pm, Monday to Friday.
CayLight is now available in all liquor stores and bars nationwide.
