Professional Skateboarders Josh Harmony and Brian Sumner have come to Grand Cayman to share with the local community their love for both skateboarding and Christ, and will celebrate them at an event combining their passions. This Friday (August 7), Black Pearl Skatepark will host the skateboarders and their event Roll Out for Christ 2009 from 6:00-9:00pm at Grand Harbour. The event promises to be an interactive evening that will include a skateboarding competition, choir singing, religious testimonials from the professional skateboarders, live music from Josh Harmony and more.
Prospective Skate Cayman campers will receive 20% off of their admission to Camp by signing up at the Friday night event for either of Skate Cayman’s final two weeks.
Having recently visited Grand Cayman to film episodes for “The Uprising”, a reality television show that follows the faith-based skateboarding ministry, Brian was invited by the Department of Tourism to return to Cayman to spend time with the campers of Skate Cayman and to share his experiences with his friend, fellow professional skateboarder Josh Harmony. Brian and Josh have spent this summer travelling together and sharing the path that led them to devote themselves to Christianity, their ministry, The Uprising, and their work with Skate Bible. Josh, an accomplished musician, will be playing music for the crowd.
In addition to skateboarding professionally, Brian serves as a Deacon at the Sanctuary in Huntington Beach, California where he hosts a regular Saturday night service called “Generations”; Josh is recording a six song album that will be available before the end of the year.
The Friday night event is free to attend however there will be a nominal fee for those who want to skateboard. Children interested in skateboarding will need a parent or guardian to sign a waiver. For more information on Roll Out for Christ please contact Black Pearl Skatepark.
Skate Cayman continues through August 21, bringing the best skateboarders in the world to Grand Cayman’s Black Pearl Skatepark.
