The Royal Cayman Islands Police Service (RCIPS) is now in a position to name the man who was murdered last night (Friday, May 16).? He was 20-year-old, Brian Adrian Rankine (also known as Rankine-Carter) of West Bay. Mr Rankine?s body was found in a car park on McField Lane, George Town, shortly after midnight. He had suffered severe stab wounds that could only have been caused by a very violent attack.

Does anyone know if this is this the first murder of the year? This is alittle disturbing. I felt really comfortable walking around g.town at night.

Celine,

Was just curious, I know it happens but they take such pride on the low murder rate. I knew of only one killing last year. But of course I don't live there so who am I to say much. Was just a ???

I think its the second murder there this year, not counting all the iguanas. I heard the iguanas may have been attacked by dogs though, possibly not people, but still the dog owners are ultimately responsible, if that's what happened.

Where did you hear the iguanas were attacked by dogs? I have not read anything about that.

As far as the homicides.........I do not believe tourists have anything to worry about. We have a lot more crime in our community as far as shootings, murders, burglaries, etc.......they are drug related. Tourists are not going to get themselves into a situation such as that. As long as there are drugs, we will have issues, no matter where we travel or where we live. Sadly, that is a part of life now.

I still feel totally safe on Grand Cayman.....I do get their local news.
