The Treehouse was a very popular restaurant that was destroyed in Hurricane Ivan.

Are you sure you found the schedule for this year's Batabano? Rolling Eyes .

Otherwise, I'm not sure of anyplace that exists now that is calling itself The Treehouse.

Gosh..... Rolling Eyes ....now, I am curious.... Confused .

Weird that they would be referring to the empty land where the restaurant used to be, but I suppose they could be holding something there.

Let us know if you ever find out anything further.

OK Char!

Just received a response from Donna at the Batabano Committee dance1 , and she says it's across from Kirk Supermarket, North Church Street!

Is that where The treehouse used to be??

They won't have everything finalized for at least another two months. I'll post the full schedule of events for Batabano and Cayfest as soon as I get the press release. All of the carnival details will also be in Activity Guide magazine during April and May.

We will be on island in time for the adult parade. Where is the best place to see it? How long does it last? Any information about the festival would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hi StephJones - Here's the schedule of events for Batabano 2008, which will be included in our May issue available locally and online.

Batabano 2008

A celebration of West Indian culture of vibrancy, creativity and multi-ethnicity.

Batabano is a communal celebration of life. Its roots mirror diverse history; its colours reflect the landscape and it music is the very rhythm of life in the Cayman islands.

The heart and soul of Batabano is the Mas? (Masquerading) Bands who express creativity, imagination and talent. Thousands of locals and visitors flock into the streets every year to celebrate.

Steel pans provide the rhythms and costumes fill the streets-the energy is electrifying. Communities and districts join together to create the floats and bands.

2008 Schedule of Events:

April 26th: Junior Carnival Parade. GT. 3pm

April 26th: Family fun Day. Song competition & Teen Dance. GT. 6:30pm

May 1st: Masquerade Fete ? Pedro St. James Castle. 6:30pm?12am

May 2nd: Friday Fete ? TreeHouse. 9pm

May 3rd: Adult Costume Street Parade & Dance ? Harbour Dr. 3:30pm

Hi knees!

Wed. I will be doing a 3 tank safari, Stingray city, Babylon and some other dive spot......will be gone all morning and most of the afternoon....probably back around 4PM???? not really sure.....I do have Thurs( the 1st of May) afternoon free....doing A.M. dives and a night dive later that evening around 8PM, so if you like we can meet up somewhere or after I get back Wed late afternoon..let me know...I'll try to check back if I can get access to the internet..

RC

P.S.

Dont forget harbour drive will be closed for the adult parade, and may be hard to find parking close by...last year I came up from Smith Cove and just before the barricades there was a side street leading to some apartments...I just parked there and walked a ways up.......feel free to stop in when you get out east.

Hope to get to Portifino's Sunday (27th of April) after diving for brunch! FYI, there's a coupon in the guide.... come over if like, I'm sure to be there : )

RC
