Queen's Birthday Parade in '07?

I believe I read, somewhere here, it will be on June 16th this year? If so, we might see it from our departing flight...

this is the first I've heard of this, but my curiosity was piqued so I checked it out and this is what I found--her birthday is June 16th, but this didn't indicate if they will celebrate it on that exact day in Cayman--I'll have to check around some more





"To honor the British heritage of the Cayman Islands, the queen's birthday is celebrated every year in George Town on Grand Cayman. The streets of the capital are filled with a full military dress parade, there is a 21-gun salute, and you can attend an open house and garden reception at Government House. Dates vary, and the event is not always on the queen's actual birthday."

The Department of tourism lists it as

Queen's Birthday 6/18/2007 --so maybe they are not celebrating it on her real birthday. Too bad---Guess you'll miss it then.

It wasn't on our list of "must do things" ( that's a very short list, anyway). I just came across it in the "events" section. We MIGHT have watched the parade, if they had arranged to have it on a nearby beach (Hah- ha).



The 18th is a Monday, so it sound's like they've planned it for a couple days AFTER the actual birthday, this year. Maybe, just maybe, if they'd have opted for the 15th, we might have tried to fit it into our relax/snorkel/relax/eat/relax/drink/relax/& repeat - plans!

I'd check to make sure when I got there---who knows about some of this information we find. It would definitely be something different to do in Cayman. Strange that they would have something like that on a Monday if they weren't going to have it on the real day--but who knows.
