Wherever you go be sure to be out on the beach at midnight to see the fireworks.

Hi sly4458 - And

This page will be in the magazine when you arrive but this should help with your pre-planning, especially with some of the places that tend to sell out early (in bold).

Shelly was probably thinking of the Wharf for fireworks because they have have put on the most spectacular display of fireworks consistently for the past 20 years.

Remember to book everything direct and mention Activity Guide for specials.

You can also book all of these online or just request information by using our new Menu Search feature, which will put you directly in touch with top management or owners of these top rated establishments. They will be happy to answer any questions you may have.

It would also probably be a good idea for you to look at some of the photos and watch a few videos in our Dining forum. Wink

Have a Great Vacation - Merry Holiday and Happy New Year!

We do not recommend the Westin but if you don't mind paying the highest (actually second highest now with the Ritz) prices on Seven Mile beach for a resort with very small rooms that were never completely refurbished after extensive damage and flooding from a major hurricane about 5 years ago, you will love it. If you have any allergies to mold be sure to stay on one of their upper floors and keep your windows open as often as possible.

I am sure the Westin has their own NYE party that they will be promoting to their guests and it will cost at least 20-40% more than any of the establishments we recommend. I think Legendz is the only one in walking distance so be careful about drinking and driving if you venture out on Seven Mile Beach.

There will be roadblocks with random stops for sobriety tests on Christmas and NYE—And probably some days in between as well; and if anyone fails, they are immediately taken to jail where they will spend the night and pay a huge fine to get out in the next day or so. Not a good place to spend your NYE or wake up to start a new year. Very Happy

Where did you stay in Maui? I lived there for 5 years before moving to the Cayman Islands.

sly4458 - I lived about 2 miles from the Maui Sheraton in Lahaina. Besides being a great hotel, the snorkeling and diving right in front at Black Rock was outstanding! I ran a dive company there and we would sometimes make that our second stop when the winds started to kick up around Lanai. We did 90% of our shore night diving there and it was about the best shallow water dive in all of Maui.

I didn't mean to imply that you need to change hotels if you are already booked; and with two rooms I'm sure you will have a wonderful vacation.

Next time, you may want to use our and check the prices at Cayman Beach Suites (formerly Hyatt) and the Marriott Beach Resort. The latter being much less expensive with near comparable wow factor; the former being about 10% less expensive with incomparable ambiance, huge suites and two of the best restaurants on the island.

Have a wonderful vacation and if you need anything else, please don't hesitate to ask.

Joe

I wasn't referring to the wharf---or who knows maybe I was. We just always went on on the beach at our condo--(North end of SMB) and watch whatever fireworks were coloring the sky.

Even when we stayed at Kaibo, there were fireworks there.

Such a fun thing to be doing rather than shivering in the cold at home.

Shelly :-)

Two years ago, the following was written:

Can someone give me the low-down on any restaurants or clubs that have traditionally planned fun New Year's Eve parties? If so, do we need to make reservations? My wife and I are going to GC [on] Christmas and through New Year's. While our main goals are just to relax, eat good food and dive as much as possible, we would hate to miss out on a fun party in paradise

Any feedback would be awesome. Thanks.

While that was intended for 2006, Donna & I would like to ask the same question for THIS year.

Thanks Joe, for calling this thread to my attention. RE our earlier discussion, how will we get hold of you after we arrive on GC?

We always just went out on the beach at our condo at the northern end of SMB, and looked down the beach towards town and could see them. Lots of people just shoot them off individually--but there is a big display near town.

Does Rum Point have a New Year's Party? Will we be able to see firework from our rental (on the beach just south of Rum Point)?

hi frantzjj

Last year Kaibo had a black and white party for New Years--people dressed up fancy in black and white....,special meal and band and fireworks on the beach.. We didn't go, but watched the activities because we were staying next door. I don't remember the price---maybe 75CI
