Check out our new Cayman map

I took a recent satellite image, enhanced it and superimposed the roads and added the attractions. The accuracy and detail is much greater than our previous maps or any other map in existence that I am aware of. I am working on doing the same thing with all of our maps as soon as I have time. It is an extremely laborious task so it will be a few weeks before I have them all completed.

Great map--looking at it, I remembered our first trip to Cayman in 1969 and someone we met took us on a driving trip to east end. Driving up to the Tortuga club was like driving to the end of the world. I seem to recall a dirt road. It will be interesting heading over there this year.

Very nice map Joe! Only thing I can think of that someone might need is the location of a hospital....assuming you guys have one of course BouncingLaugh

Seriously, my daughter has a severe shellfish allergy. We'll be sure to take her epi-pen for possible emergency, especially since she'll be surrounded by so much seafood. Where is the hospital located...just in case? Do you have a "911" number there?

akatora - The hospital is indicated on our George Town map

You will find all essential phone numbers - including 911 in the directory near the back of Activity Guide magazine when you arrive. Very Happy

akatora,

I've been to the hospital several times (my hubby seems to step in a fire ant nest now and again!).

The road that you take from the Reef is called Crewe Road. Don't turn by the airport, go straight. It will become Smith Road, and the hospital is very visible on the left.

Hope you don't have to go there!

Very well trained paramedics in the ambulances, as well.

I agree with NorthSideSue. I ended up in ICU transported by ambulance. The paramedics were great and the treatment at the hospital was just fine. They have the funniest thing there. The toilets are hidden in a cabinet--like a kitchen cabinet and you open the door and they swing out. Never saw anything like it before. Hope you don't have to use the hospital, but the treatment was what they would have done at a Chicago area hospital

Hope you have a good trip--uneventful in terms of the hospital

Shelly :-)

Joe

I had a bad case of respiratory flu and was dehydrated and passing out--which I had never done before.

Actually my husband flew down with the flu, but I didn't know how sick he was. I got it and was sick for a week, but only had to spend overnight in the hospital. And then our son who was 32 at the time got it.....but he recovered a lot more quickly than we did. The hospital did everything that our doctor at home told us should be done when we called him asking what to do. We were satisfied with the care, but also glad that I only had to spend one night there.

shelly - That's a terrible thing to happen, especially during a vacation. I'm happy that at least you all recovered so quickly. Very Happy
