Bring a good book and while away the hours under a shady tree or move your lounge chair to the edge of the sandy beach and soak up the rays. An immense shallow lagoon furnishes the ideal environment for children and novice swimmers and snorkelers. Pack a picnic lunch or select from a variety of food and beverage selections.

South Sound refers to the bay of water and adjoining land along this southern stretch of the island. The sound, less than 8ft deep, is largely comprised of turtle grass, rocks, juvenile fish and stingrays. Not particularly suited to swimming or snorkeling, windsurfing seems to be the activity of choice when conditions are favorable.

Smith Cove lies just outside this prestigious community of predominately modern upscale homes. Lush foliage line both sides of the road which is also sparsely scattered with restaurants, hotels and shops.

Cemetery Beach is easily identified by the brightly decorated gravesites, look for the Beach Access sign and follow the short trail to the beach. While primarily revered for its superb snorkeling, the beach is charming in its own right, removed somewhat from the profusion of Seven Mile Beach.
